Spirit
Airlines' cancellation policy
is designed to provide flexibility while maintaining its ultra-low-cost
structure. While you can cancel any Spirit flight, the cost and type of refund
you receive depend heavily on when you cancel and the type of fare you
purchased. Spirit's model does not include traditional refundable fares for
most customers, but there are options that can protect your money.
The most generous part of Spirit’s
policy is its 24-hour cancellation window. If you book a flight and
cancel within 24 hours—and your departure is at least 7 days away—you’ll
receive a full refund to your original payment method. This applies to
all fare types. You can cancel online or by calling 📞 866-548-2474.
Outside the 24-hour window,
cancellations are allowed, but a fee applies:
60+ days before travel
: No cancellation fee
31 to 59 days
: $69 fee
7 to 30 days
: $99 fee
0 to 6 days
: $119 fee
When you cancel a non-refundable
fare after this grace period, Spirit will issue you a Reservation Credit
for the remaining balance after the fee. This credit is valid for 90 days
from the cancellation date and can be applied to any future booking.
For extra flexibility, Spirit sells
a Flight Flex add-on, which allows you to make one change or
cancellation to your itinerary without a change fee, although fare
differences still apply. If you added travel insurance, your eligibility for a
refund could increase in the event of emergencies.
If Spirit cancels your flight,
you are automatically eligible for a full refund or free rebooking. You
can handle this online, but calling 📞 866-548-2474 gets you
personalized help faster.
In short, Spirit does allow
cancellations, but fees and refund types vary. To navigate the policy
confidently, call 📞 866-548-2474.
